The Impact in New Jersey

The Radiance Foundation and Project Courageous for Life illuminate South Jersey

New Jersey is the Garden State. Gardens are environments where new life grows and flourishes. Tragically, since Roe v. Wade, Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry have ensured that certain human life isn’t given that opportunity. In the latest reported year (2008), New Jersey has allowed the killing of 54,160 defenseless human beings in the state’s 75 abortion mills, of which Planned Parenthood runs the largest share (31 facilities). The majority of abortions, nationwide, are among unmarried women (84%); in New Jersey, it’s even higher at 86%.  In 1970, births to unmarried women in New Jersey amounted to 10.9% of live births. In the most recent year reported, 33.8% of children in the state are born into homes without fathers, according to the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services. These alarming numbers reflect a culture of abortion that has failed women and children and reflect the destructive absence of fathers.

Project Courageous for LIFE has teamed up with The Radiance Foundation (the creators of the initiative) to help expose the destruction that abortion brings to our society, especially the black community. The “Fatherhood Begins in the Womb” campaign (created by Walter Hoye of the Issues4Life Foundation and Ryan Bomberger of The Radiance Foundation) illuminates the destruction that results from the absence of fathers.

Recently, the abortion giant was exposed by the intrepid youth-led Live Action prompting the firing of one of Planned Parenthood Central New Jersey’s staff. Clinic manager Amy Woodruff warns the pimp and his prostitute (undercover reporters in this Live Action sting in sidebar) to “have their trafficked underage girls lie about their age to avoid mandatory reporting laws.” She instructed them to lie about the ages of the alleged girls, to report that they were 15 instead of 14 to avoid reporting any of it. Ms. Woodruff told the undercover reporters: “For the most part, we want as little information as possible.”

This is but one of many instances where Planned Parenthood’s corruption and eagerness to refuse reporting of rape and human trafficking should concern every taxpayer whose hard-earned money pays for this billion dollar organization.

Governor Chris Christie, in an effort to protect women and young girls, vetoed $7.5 million of taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood, his second veto. Despite Planned Parenthood’s exposed corruption, overbilling of Medicaid by $597,000, and continued failure to reduce the unintended pregnancy rate in decades (overall rate at 49% since 1995), abortion advocates ignore all of the evidence to push their radical abortion agenda.

Abortion does nothing to strengthen women, but causes devastation to the single-most important foundation in any community–family. Fatherhood Begins in the Womb focuses on how the deterioration of two-parent married homes significantly adds to the decay of the black community, which is hit hardest with fatherlessness.

One cannot look at the present without taking into account the history that helped shape today’s statistics. Planned Parenthood’s founder, Margaret Sanger (who was married numerous times) disparaged the institution of marriage throughout her lifetime.

“The marriage bed is the most degenerative influence in the social order.” — Margaret Sanger (Editor), The Woman Rebel, Volume I, Number 1. Reprinted in Woman and the New Race. 1922.

Planned Parenthood embodies this ideology today.

Fatherhood begins in the womb and doesn’t end until you enter the tomb. There is no excuse for men who’ve chosen to have sex, to then choose to avoid any and all responsibility, when the natural result of sexual activity brings forth Life. Our government, too, has failed miserably in protecting the rights of fathers to exercise that responsibility by stripping away any ability to protect ones own unborn child. Every man is completely powerless, thanks to the anti-family, anti-life Roe v. Wade decision, to defend the life he is 50% responsible for biologically, emotionally, materially, and spiritually. The ideal is that children are born following marriage. The reality is that we’ve got a lot of healing, education, and mentoring to happen to get there. So even if marriage is not chosen, children STILL need their fathers!
